Anti Ragging Committee
As per the mandate of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and in compliance with the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, the Law College has constituted an Anti-Ragging Cell to prevent, prohibit, and eliminate all forms of ragging within the campus as well as outside the campus.
The Anti-Ragging Cell is a Statutory Body of the College and is committed to ensuring a safe, secure, and conducive academic environment, upholding the principles of constitutional values, human dignity, equality, and the rule of law.
Objectives
- To prevent and prohibit all forms of ragging on and off the college campus.
- To protect the fundamental rights of students as guaranteed under the Constitution of India.
- To create awareness among students regarding the legal consequences of ragging.
- To ensure a fear-free environment that promotes academic excellence and professional ethics.
Acts Constituting Ragging
The following acts shall fall within the purview of ragging:
- Any act that violates the Fundamental Rights guaranteed by the Constitution of India.
- Any form of abuse, whether verbal or written, including spoken words, emails, SMS, public insults, or misuse of social media platforms.
- Any act of physical assault, molestation, intimidation, or unlawful assembly with the intention of ragging.
- Any act of indiscipline within the college premises.
- Teasing, coercion, or behaving in a rude, threatening, or humiliating manner.
- Any conduct that disrupts academic, co-curricular, or extracurricular activities of the Law College.
- Creating physical or mental stress, fear, or psychological trauma, thereby disturbing the learning environment.
- Financial extortion, forceful expenditure, or unlawful demand of money from students.
- Any act causing harm, danger to life, or health, directly or indirectly.
Procedure of the Anti-Ragging Cell
The Anti-Ragging Cell shall follow the procedure given below:
- Receive written complaints from the aggrieved student(s).
- Examine the complaint in detail based on available documents and evidence.
- If prima facie merit is found, recommend the Principal to forward the matter to the concerned authorities.
- Recommend initiation of disciplinary and legal action against the culprit(s) as per UGC norms and institutional rules.
